- Sign Yearbooks...Last Day of School!
This week we finish up our economic sections, a make believe trip to Disneyland, where the students had to shop for clothes from a catalog, make hotel and airline reservation through the internet, discuss modes of transportation and parking costs to and from Durham to the Atlanta Airport and from Los Angeles to the hotel, and plan for meals and other costs. They also selected the rides and attractions they wanted to visit at Disneyland and discovered that having fun...sometimes is more expensive than they realize!

- We are starting our trip planning, by giving each student $250.00 to spend on clothing. They need to purchase 3 Shirts, 3 pants or skirts, 2 pairs of shoes, PJs, and a swimsuit. They are filling out order forms, learning to budget and having to calculate item costs and shipping/handling costs.

- Students are doing the math for their clothing order forms today! We will then explore the cost of taking a taxi, limo or parking at the airport and make a group decision on what would be the most economical way to go!

- Started Personal Economics Unit
- Make Believe Trip to California & Disneyland...Students will be ordering clothes for their trip, taking a taxi to the airport, buying airline tickets, making hotel reservations, learning how to tip at restaurants, and buying tickets to Disneyland. The purpose is to show them how much planning goes into taking a trip, how math is important, and that even fun costs!!!

It will take all week to watch this. It wraps up our Latin American History section in a unique way, the students seem to be really enjoying learning about this era of history.
