Language Arts/Reading...February 28, 2008

We will have tutoring tomorrow morning beginning at 8 a. m.  Hope to see you tomorrow morning.

Come to Curriculum Night tonight and visit your team. Show your parents how our new Smart Technology is being used in your classrooms.

Language Arts/Reading...February 26, 2008

This week we will continue to build upon learning how to write paragraphs. We began yesterday with finding details in our "Invention" passages.   Also today we read several comprehesion passages and worked on those.

We had a quiz yesterday on the parts of a paragraph.

This Friday we will have a vocabulary quiz on the words we made flash cards for last week. This will be in the SENTEO format.

We will also have tutoring this Friday for those who would like to attend.

Reading logs will be due on March 3 or this can be exempted if you come for tutoring on Friday.

Language Arts/Reading...February 20, 2008

Welcome back after our long break.

Today in class we began note taking for paragraphs. Handouts were given to each student and we will continue to review. If you were absent today, I'll give you the make-up work when you return. We will have a quiz on this information. Initially, I was planning it for this Friday but that may change due to the amount of absences in class today.  I hope you all are feeling better!  I'll post on the blog exactly what day the quiz will be tomorrow.

Since this is a short week, there will be no Wildcat tutoring on Friday.

Reading logs will not be due again until March 2.  I'll hand out sheets for that next Monday.

Language Arts/Reading...February 11, 2008

This week we will continue to work in our Language! series. We are focusing more and more on writing at this point. We will continue to work on reading comprehension and fluency with a Reader's Theater about marial arts.

Reading logs will be due Wednesday, February 20.  Remember Monday and Tuesday are holidays.

Language Arts/Reading February 4

Reading logs will again be due on Monday, February 11, 2008 for a homework grade. This is your only homework to read 60 minutes per week. Please make sure you hand your log in with a parent signature to me on Monday.

This week we will read about the Hindenburg that relates to our Language! lesson using the word dirigible. We will also learn to write a beginning topic sentence and a conclusion sentence to paragraphs.

Language Arts/Reading...January 31, 2008

Please Note:  I will not be able to tutor February 1. I'm sorry for this late notice but I have a meeting that I must attend. You may go to Mrs. Dean's room (she will come and get you) for tutoring. I will give you the same benefits attending her session as if you were to attend mine.

Language Arts/Reading...January 30, 2008

Good afternoon!

Homework logs will begin again this week. You should have received one in class today. They are to be turned in on Monday, February 4 for a homework grade.

Don't forget....Wildcat Tutoring for Reading starts this Friday, February 1. Be at school by 8 am to participate!

Reading/Language Arts...Blocks 2 and 3

We have had a good start to the beginning of the New Year. We continue to work in our Language! curriculum and are working daily on comprehension activities. Our Smart Board has become a tool in the classroom that I can't imagine teaching a lesson without now. We use it everyday!

Conference week begins next week and times have been confirmed. I look forward to seeing those parents that I will be conferencing with next week. Please remember that school will dismiss at 2:15 all of next week and that Monday is the Martin Luther King holiday and we will not have school.
