Allatoona Concert in Courtyard FormDownload AHS CIC  Due ASAP

May 16 Allatoona High School Concert in the Courtyard (7th,Jazz and 8th Grade Bands)  I would like all Durham students/parents to be there at the beginning of the event at 5:00 P.M.  Since I am not providing supervision this evening, all students need to sit with their parents before and after the performance.  The dress for this concert is white Durham Band polo shirt and shorts (within dress code).  Please make sure to take your instruments home on Friday!!

In the case of rain the event will be moved into the gym.  We are going to have fun!!!!

8th Grade

Students need to be practicing all major scales and arpeggios and chromatic scale,  Newcastle March, Rites of Tamburo, Bohemian Rhapsody, Lord of the Rings and finish the book.

7th Grade Band

Students need to be practicing  G,C, F,Bb,Eb,Ab,Db, scales and arpeggios, chromatic scale, concert music and finish the book. They have four assignments in SmartMusic that need to be completed no later than 8 P.M. on May 14th. 

6th GradeThey should be practicing their F, Bb,Eb, Ab and chromatic scales and the remaining pages in the book. Their final exam will include all scales, the solo in the back of the book and SmartMusic. Please note the 9 assignments in SmartMusic that need to be completed no later than 8 P.M. on May 14th.  The combined 6th grade band will perform for the 6th grade class during Connections on Tuesday.  Students do not need to wear the uniform for this performance.

THIS IS A CHANGE FROM THE PERMISSION FORM:  7th Grade will report to theater at 2:30.  At that time they will eat a sack lunch (brought from home) and change. We will depart at 3:30 going directly to Kell H.S. We will arrive back at school at 8:30 P.m>

We have added a concert to the calendar.  Since we feel they will be ready, we will have a 6th grade band concert on March 19th at 7:00 P.M.

All 8th graders attending Harrison interested in participating in band, there will an informational meeting to discuss details of the program as well as information regarding the band's performance in the Macy's Parade next year. It will be on December 16, 2008 in the Harrison Band Room at 7:30pm!

Nov 1 BOA Field trip (7th, 8th) Report to Durham at 4:15. Bus leaves at 4:30 We will be back at Durham at approximately 12:30 a.m.   Bring money for food at the Dome (at least $15). Students are to wear white Durham Band Polo shirt and blue jeans.

6th Grade Band

Practice #39-52 in book, breathing and Bb concert scale. Students are learning eighth notes this week.   I am now offering help sessions for woodwinds at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesdays in the bandroom. Wait in cafeteria until I arrive.  Many students are coming to class unprepared. Please look on I-parent for zeros in participation and book checks. 

7th Grade Band

Practice all sheet music and Page 12-13 in the book. They are learning the Db concert scale this week and already know F, Bb, Eb, Ab and chromatic scales.

8th Grade Band

Practice all sheet music and page 7 in the book.  Students will become more familiar with eighth/sixteenth note combinations this week.  They should know G, C, G, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb and chromatic scales. The new scale introduced last week is B concert.

Dates to Remember

Oct 17 Harrison 8th Grade Night (8th Grade) Students will wear white Durham Polo shirt and jeans. Bring a jacket.  We will meet in band room after school and ride the bus to HHS at around 5:00.  Students will eat dinner, practice with sections, march in with band and play stand music during the game. Parents need to pick up students after the game at the band room (left rear side of school at around 10:00).

Parents will not be able to pick up students until after the game because their book bags will be locked in classrooms within the  There is no access to the school during the game.   

Oct 24 Allatoona Band   Report to AHS at 6:00 (no later than 6:30)

Congratulations to the 8th Grade Band on their performance at the Cobb Food and Arts Festival  Saturday.

6th Grade Band --Students should be able to play all exercises on Page 10 of book. Students are doing one playing test a week.  Please check their progress as there are some students who are starting to fall behind.

7th Grade Band--Students are working on #29-34 in the SOE book and have F, Bb, Eb, and Ab scales memorized.  They should also be practicing the sheet music

8th Grade Band--They received two new pieces of music to work on this week for the November 11th concert.  Practice page 6 in the book and G, C, G, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, and Gb scales.
