WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK ARE PROJECT WORK DAYS.  STUDENTS WILL BE WORKING ON THEIR CREATE A COUNTRY PROJECTS.  PROJECTS ARE DUE ON MONDAY, MAY 18.

*Today students worked on their Create a Country assignment that they were given on Monday.  The worksheet must be completed by the beginning of class tomorrow.

*HOMEWORK:  FINISH CREATE A COUNTRY WORKSHEET IF NOT DONE IN CLASS.  BRING IN YOUR TEXTBOOK!

*Today we began a project titled "Create A Country".  Students will be using information they have learned over the last year about the five areas of Social Studies:  Government, History, Economics, Geography, and Culture to create their own country.  Students were given the assignment sheet for the project and instructions in class today.  They will have Monday and Tuesday to complete the information sheet for the project.  Computers will be available on Wednesday-Friday if students want to do their final project on the computer.  They can also represent their project as a poster, book, etc.  The final project is due on Monday, May 18, 2009.  Project presentations will be the last week of school.

*Today students took part in an economic activity "Around the World with a Hershey Kiss".  We discussed the capital goods, human capital, interdependence, and other economic ideas which come together to produce the wonderful Hershey Kiss.  Students answered questions about today's lesson and were treated with a Kiss (the Hershey kind) when they turned in the completed questions.

*HOMEWORK:  BRING THE TEXTBOOK YOU WERE ASSIGNED TO SCHOOL ON MONDAY!

*Notes from Monday and the homework assignment from Tuesday were turned in at the beginning of class today.

*Today students took part in an economic activity, "World of Trade".  Each class was broken into 7 groups.  Each group was given a different quantity of supplies.  They have to create products for their country and trade for the the goods they need.  We will continue this activity tomorrow.

*HOMEWORK:  NONE!!

*Today students took part in an economic simulation about 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th/5th world countries.  Homework from Monday (definitions) was turned in.  Students will use their notes from Monday to answer the Anticipating True or False Questions given in class and the Essential Question:  How do resources, products and trade affect a country's standard of living?  (The answer should be a 5 sentence paragraph).

*Homework:  Finish paragraph assigned in class

Monday, May 4, 2009

*Today students took notes over economics and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-5th World Countries.  These notes will used for their homework assignment today.

*Homework:  Define the following in your own words (use your notes from today to help):  First World Country, Second World Country, Third World Country, Fourth/Fifth World Country.  Homework must be done and handed in tomorrow in order to participate in the activity.

Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday: April 29-May 1

*Wednesday:  Australia Scrapbook Projects were due today.  Students presented to the class.  We will continue presentations on Friday.  NO HOMEWORK

*Thursday:  Today students were given an assignment "Australia, New Zealand, Oceania"  the assignment was turned in at the end of class, and will be finished during free time in class on Friday.  NO HOMEWORK

*Friday:  Finished project presentations and completed the assignment from Thursday.  Any student who is not done with the assignment will need to finish and turn in on Monday, May 4.  HOMEWORK:  FINISH ASSIGNMENT FROM THURSDAY!
