Today: Daily Grammar Practice; reading and responding to chapters of Lyddie, including ongoing comprehension check-ups (Classwork Grades).

Homework: Blocks 1, 2, and 3- DGP Quiz #14 tomorrow. (The quiz will be given to Blocks 6 & 7 Wednesday. Lyddie book review is due Thursday. Test on Lyddie will also be given that day. Test Review Sheet: Download lyddie_scanton_test_review_sheet.doc

Agenda: Today we completed the daily grammar practice diagramming. Some of us then shopped at the half-priced book sale. The remainder of the class consisted of reading and responding to the novel, including comprehension check-ups on Ch. 15-17; 18-20; and some on the ending, Ch. 21-23.

Homework: Work on book review and/or continue reading, if you brought a book home.

Agenda: Daily Grammar Practice, Reading and responding to the novel Lyddie, including a comprehension check.

Homework: Work on your book review article. Half-priced Scholastic book fair begins tomorrow. You will have the opportunity to shop during homeroom and in your language arts block on Friday. Stock up on summer reading titles!

Agenda: Daily Grammar Practice, Reading and Summarizing Lyddie, took comprehension check on chapters 12, 13, & 14.

Homework: Continue working on your book review (Remember, you can check a book out for home use each night, as long as you return it during homeroom!)

Today we did our Daily Grammar Practice warm-up, read and summarized in the Lyddie book, and some students took the chapter check-up for chapters 9-11.

Homework: Begin working on your book review. You can set up your columns, select a title and picture, and begin writing the introduction. Due date= Thursday, May 16th!

Pajama Day guidelines: A minimum of $2.00 donation to the Del Edwards Memorial Garden, which will be located in the outdoor area in front of the media center. No tank tops or spaghetti straps, nothing "see through", no inappropriate words or advertising, and no holes above the knee. Follow the dress code: If a violation occurs, you will have to call home to change clothes. If you're not sure about something...don't wear it! Have fun!!

Agenda: Daily Grammar Practice, continuing novel reading and summarizing, comprehension check-up for chapters 9, 10, & 11. Students were given handouts with directions for the book review, along with rubric and a sample student review: Download published_book_review_instructions.doc  Download sample_book_review.doc, and Advanced Content directions: Download published_book_review_instructions_ac.doc Due date for the book review is May 15th!

Homework: None. (Begin work on your book review if you wish to hand it in early for bonus points.)

Important Note: Please return Lyddie during homeroom if you borrow a copy overnight!

Today we took a quiz on some vocabulary from Chapters 6, 7, & 8 of Lyddie. Then, we continued reading the novel and summarizing after each chapter.

Homework: None (I will accept the bonus credit- published diary entries Monday).

Today's agenda: We reviewed the vocabulary words from chapters 6-8. Then we continued reading, chapter by chapter, each time writing a brief summary before moving on to the next.

Homework: Study the definitions for the vocabulary quiz tomorrow. If you checked out a Lyddie book, be sure you return it during homeroom in the morning! The published diary entry due date has been extended through Monday to allow some of the students extra time to finish their masterpieces!

Agenda: Today we completed our vocabulary definitions from Chapters 6-8. We continued reading in the novel, remembering to summarize each chapter in our journal before moving on.
