May 20

Two more days left and, how sad :(  , school will be out.  Until then, students should be coming to an end on their brochures.  Yes, the brochures are due by the END of class tomorrow.  Yes, Thursday!  See you all tomorrow with wonderful countries to share.

May 19

We are so close to finishing, but not just yet!  Students worked very hard on their brochures today for the country that they are creating.

Reminders:  All maps should be turned in, most have been updated in IParent.

All students should have their textbooks turned-in.  All students should bring in a legal-sized envelope with three stamps that is already self-addressed.

May 18

Summer break is almost here, but not yet!  Blocks 1,2, & 3 finished their maps today for their newly found country or island.  The maps are looking great.  Blocks 4 & 5 began their maps.

H.W.:  Please check I-Parent to ensure that there aren't any mistakes on grades.  If so, please send an e-mail or bring the assignment in question tomorrow.

All students should bring a legal size envleope with 3 stamps attached and the envelope should be self-addressed.

May 15

Students began creating their own country today!  Students are using the knowledge acquired earlier this year to create their own physical features and cultures on an island.  They even get to name their island!  This will be the last grade for students so let's finish up strong!

H.W.:  Bring your textbooks!  Please! Pretty Please!

May 14

Almost There!  Students turned in either their compare/contrast  or summaries today for a test grade!

H.W.:  No official homework.  Please check I-Parent and make sure that you don't have any missing assignments.  If you have turned in something that does not have a grade in I-Parent, please send me an e-mail ASAP and I will investigate to solve any problems.  Thanks!  Students who need to turn-in assignments will need to turn them in before 1st block.

May 13

We are getting closer to the end but there are a few more assignments to take care of before it's all over.  Blocks 1, 2, and 3 have finished reading No Turning Back and had the opportunity to watch The Color of Friendship today.  The students are comparing and contrasting events and characters from the book and the movie.  All students should have turned in all questions and storyboards.  There will be no more assignments accepted after tomorrow.  Blocks 4 & 5:  Most students are finished reading and finished with all summaries.  Those who are not should have checked out a book to work at home.

H.W.:  Blocks 1, 2, & 3 should work on the questions assigned in class.  Remember, the answers will count as a test grade!  Blocks 4 & 5 should make sure that they have no more than three summaries to complete when coming to class tomorrow.  Remember, the summaries will count as a test grade!  Students who are unsure of how to answer questions or complete summaries should e-mail me immediately.  A reply will be sent quickly.  Also, I will be available for help tomorrow morning.  Let's finish up strong!

It is sad to say, but we only have two more weeks to go.  So... all students need to return their textbooks.

H.W.:  Students in Blocks 1-3 who have not completed at least 20 chapters including questions and pictures will need to do so.  Blocks 4-5 should continue to write summaries for chapters 21-34.

Apr 7

And...we continue to read!  We are almost finished and we are able to see many of things we have learned about this schoolyear in these historical fictions.

H.W.:  Some students may have had to check out a book to read at home.  Tomorrow, 4th & 5th block will need to turn in the answers for chapters 13-20.  Blocks 1, 2, & 3 will need to turn in answers from chapters 1-18.

May 6

And....we continue to read.  Most students turned in their answers and pictures for chapters 1-12 today.

H.W.:  Students will be expected to have questions completed up to chapter 15 at least.  Remember, books can be checked out for reading at home.  Blocks 1-3 can check out books during and after 3rd block.  Blocks 4 & 5 can check out books during and after block 5.

May 5

We are reading, reading, reading!

H.W.:  Some students may need to finish answers on handout provided.  All blocks should have the first 12 chapters complete with answers and illustrations complete. This will be taken up for a grade tomorrow.
