Fitness Writing Assignment

THE FITNESS WRITING ASSIGNMENT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IF IT IS NOT TYPED.

All Boys Fitness Unit

As of Thursday, Feb. 28, all the boys are participating in a cardiovascular fitness unit.  The unit consists of pre and post-tests for the PACER.  We are assessing the students' improvement over the course of the unit.  They are also responsible to participate in fitness activities at home.  Each day they will learn one benefit of cardiovascular endurance.  To compliment the unit, the students have been assigned a writing assignment.  Below will be a link to both the writing assignment and the PowerPoint for the unit.  Students should refer to this if they have been absent or have lost the assignment.  The PowerPoint will also help them in their writing.  The writing assignment is due Friday, March 7th.

NIKE 5K FOR KIDS!!!

Students and Parents,

I am so excited about this year's Nike 5k for kids at Piedmont Park in Atlanta on March 8th, 2008!  This year, we are challenging all the students to do this race.  Also, we are making this event a part of the 2008 Durham Olympics.  Mr. Edwards loved the Nike 5k for kids so we are including it in the Olympics in his honor.  It will work like the Reader's Cup.  For each grade, the academic team with the most participation will win.  Parents, little brothers and sisters are also invited to participate and your participation will count towards you student's academic team.  In addition to the 5k race, there is also a 1 mile walk/jog that will be for those who do not want to do the 5k.  Please consider participating in this event as we work to keep our kids ACTIVE!!!  Below is the link to the webpage where you can download the parent letter and registration form.  I look forward to a great 3rd 9 weeks!

8th Grade P.E. Parents

Dear all 8th Grade Physical Education Parents,

I just wanted to make you aware that we have started our Archery unit in P.E.  The class is very structured to ensure safety.  A lot of emphasis has been put on safety.  If your student is struggling and would like some extra help, I am offering archery during intramurals from now until the Winter Holidays.  They can come in Monday thru Thursday from 7:50-8:50 to get some small group help.  Thanks!
