Skills Tutor

el 13 de mayo, martes/Tuesday

Today we did # 2 on page 190 for your warm-up.  Also, all classes except for Block 3 did Additional Listening Activities 6-1,6-2,6-3 and 6-4.

In Blocks 1 & 2 we checked your work from last Thursday (The wordsearch page and the crossword search page) and you turned them in.  If you were absent or not present in class, staple these two assignments together, write your heading, and turn them into the make-up box.

In Block 3 we reviewed family vocabulary and did the Communicative Activity 6-1.  Tomorrow we will check the work from last Thursday (look at above information.)

Block 4 we finished the communicative activity and did the listening activities.

Block 5, you started the new work:  ¿Cómo es tu hermano?  This isn't homework, we will continue tomorrow.

All blocks, your test on the family is this Thursday, May 15th.

el 12 de mayo de 2008/lunes/Monday

Today in every class, except for third block, I present my family (and family vocabulary) through a  PowerPoint slideshow.  Afterward, you did a verbal activity with a partner using family trees to practice family vocabulary.

Blocks 1-3 we will check your handouts from last Thursday that you did with the substitute about the family.  It will count for a Reading/Writing grade so be sure that it is complete and you have done your best.

We will continue to work with family vocabulary and structures tomorrow and your test over family will be this Thursday, May 15, 2008.

Your final accumulative test will be on Tuesday, May 20, 2001.

el 8 de mayo/thursday/jueves

Today you did two handouts about family and family vocabulary with the substitute.  Tomorrow, it will be checked for accuracy and for a grade in class.  It will count as a reading/writing grade.

Tomorrow, I will enter the Scavenger Hunt grades in IParent.  If you didn't put your name on the game itself (several people did not) I will add a note so that you can check for yours and I can add those points to your overall score.  I also have a project for block 4 without a name on it (It is made of construction paper and was put into the class drawer.)  If it is yours, please come claim it in homeroom tomorrow.

Remember, Wildcat tutoring is tomorrow at 7:50 a.m.

Tutoring again!

If you need to come in for extra help, I will be here at 7:50 a.m. on Friday for tutoring.  Also, if you did your scavenger hunt on a computer program and we've discussed making improvements, this is the day to do so.  We will meet in the computer lab during tutoring.

el 6 de mayo /martes/Tue.

Today you and your partner finished and rehearsed your dialogues for your presentation tomorrow.  Remember to bring costumes, props and to rehearse, rehearse rehearse.  Lights, camera , action...  I will videotape any groups that are presenting live tomorrow.  Volunteers will go first, then we will use the lottery system.

Make-up work entered

All make-up work that was due on Monday, 5-5-08, has been entered in IParent.  You can now see your updated overall score.  I will post again on the blog when I have completed grading the Scavenger Hunt projects and entered the grades so that you know to check.

el 5 de mayo de 2008

Today you took your test on location prepositions and the  verbs "ESTAR" and "IR" on Senteo.  You also took a pre-test (this only counts for a participation grade) also on Senteo.  The remainder of the time you had to work on your presentations for Wednesday.  All students will present Wednesday, or if you taped a movie beforehand, we will watch it on this day.

Remember to check the previous blog with details about this presentation.

QUIZ ON MONDAY/MAY 5TH

This quiz is similar to the Senteo "Almost There" assessment you took on locations, and the verbs "ESTAR" and "IR".  You must be able to conjugate the verbs correctly in context.  Also, if a person indicates what they want to do or uses location prepositions you should be able to figure out the place.  You must know your location vocabulary well.  Start studying now.  This is an opportunity to improve your overall assessment score or to maintain it.

el 30 de abril/Wed./miércoles

Today we did listening activities 4-3/4-4.  Afterwards, you began writing with a partner your dialogue that you will present next Wednesday in class.  You have to incorporate what the 3 role playing cards say and also add more to your script to make it realistic.  Remember the following:

1.  Both partners must have a copy of the entire script at all times.  When you finish your script, I strongly suggest that you make a couple of copies to give to your parents just in case you and your partner lose your copies.  Losing the script is not an acceptable excuse for not being ready on Wednesday, May 7th.

2. It must be memorized.  You are acting this out.

3. You must have costumes and background props to make it more theatrical.

4. I will videotape your performance.  You are the star!

5. Be creative and have fun!  Use all that you've learned this year to make your skit believable.

UPDATE ON MAKE-UP DEADLINE

All progress reports went home today.  Regardless of any make-up you may turn in before the deadline, this progress report must be signed by a parent or guardian and returned tomorrow, May 1, 2008.

I have choosen to extended the dealine for all make-up to Monday, May 5, 2008 due to the field trip to Six Flags on Friday.  After this deadline any outstanding make-up not turned in will become a permanent 0.  If you need to make up a listening activity, you can do so in homeroom on Friday or Monday at the very latest.  I will only accept make-up from April 15th to the present. Remember, according to Cobb County policy students have to make up their work in a timely manner.
