Wonderful "Hollywood Night!"

Wow!  What a wonderful "Hollywood Night" our 8th grade students experienced on Friday night!  Our AWESOME PTSA out did themselves with fancy decorations, eloquent desserts including chocolate dipped strawberries and cheesecake with fresh rose bouquets as the table center pieces.  Complete Music did an excellent job providing entertainment with popular music, live student videos, and dance contests.  Lifetouch offered the opportunity for students to have their portraits made of this event with a "Hollywood Night" backdrop.  Our students and 8th grade teachers clean up really well!  Everyone looked like a star on the red carpet!!  A great time was had by all creating special memories for a lifetime!

Encore Wildcat Tutoring Session!

Great News!  Teachers will continue to provide additional academic assistance for all students in the "Encore Session of the Wildcat Tutoring Team Program."  This session began April 30th and will continue until May 16th.  Students are pick-up by the certified teacher from the cafeteria each morning at 7:50 to participate in an hour of tutoring supporting the school day instruction.  Each subject will have an assigned day for tutoring:  Monday-Math, Tuesday-Science, Wednesday-Language Arts, Thursday-Social Studies, and Friday-Reading, Seminar, or Spanish.  We are very fortunate this program is supported by a state of Georgia grant, free to all students!

2007-2008 CRCT

We began the 2007-2008 CRCT Wednesday morning.  Testing will continue until next Tuesday.  Students are encouraged to be here each day on time for this very important test.  We are looking forward to receiving these test results in early May indicating that ALL of our students are equipped with the basic skill to help them be successful in the next grade level!  Remember to get a good night sleep, eat a good breakfast, and come to school thinking positive!  Read each question and do your BEST on the TEST!!

CRCT Pep Rally

Students and teachers participated in our first CRCT Pep Rally during Connections Monday.  The Jazz Band played as students entered in the theater then opened the assembly with "We Will Rock You!"  Ms. Young welcomed the students explaining the importance of doing well on the CRCT beginning this Wednesday.  Ms. Whitehead hosted a "Are You Smarter Than a 6th, 7th or 8th Grader?" competition between six students and six teachers from each grade level.  Ms. Wylie and Ms. Barber encouraged the students to prepare for the test by getting a good night sleep, eat a good breakfast, and think positive by doing a "Noise Competition" between the teams.  Next students and teachers took the stage to sing and dance to the "CRCT Rap!" emphasizing the importance of doing your best on the test.  Ms. Young wrapped up the pep rally by announcing the students will receive a special "Do Your Best on the Test Pencil" during homeroom tomorrow.  The Jazz Band played "We Are the Champions" as the students returned to class.  It was an exciting time helping our students to have fun as we focus on getting ready for this very important test!

Perfect Day for Lunch on the Lawn!

Friday was a perfect day for our Spring Lunch on the Lawn.  It was sunny and 75 with a gentle breeze most of the time.  We appreciate our AWESOME PTSA providing a disc jockey to entertain the students as they enjoyed a picnic with their grade level.  Students also wore green to support "Earth Day", as well as, enjoyed the privilege to wear a hat during the school day.  It was a perfect celebration to officially welcome spring!

6th & 7th Grade Dance

The 6th and 7th grade students enjoyed a dance Thursday afternoon.  Music, a cool dance video, pizza, popcorn, cookies and drinks were provided by our AWESOME PTSA .  Students had a great time hanging out with their friends, dancing, and eating.  We appreciate our PTSA and teachers making this special activity possible for our students!
