Today in class...

Anyone who had not yet finished Sasquatch finished the novel today.  Then all students finished their reflection journal that we have worked on throughout the novel.  Finally, students worked on their second Sasquatch assignment which will be due on Thursday.

There is no homework tonight UNLESS YOU DID NOT FINISH THE NOVEL OR THE JOURNAL REFLECTION!).

Today in class...

First I collected the first Cryptid Hunters assignment.  Next continued to read Cryptid Hunters.  Some even finished the novel today.  Those who have finished the novel began their second Cryptid Hunters assignment which will be due on Monday.

This morning students took the Mock Writing Test, so we only had blocks 1, 2, and 3.

Today in class...

We finished reading Sasquatch.  We discussed the story elements and students finished their reflection journal, which I then collected.

Tonight for homework...

Bring any materials that you might need to work on your second Sasquatch assignment.  We will have laptops tomorrow and Wednesday and the 2nd assignment will be due at the end of class Wednesday.

Today in class...

Students took the Unit 7 Vocabulary test first.  Then they continued to read Sasquatch.  Students in Block 1 had time to finish their first Sasquatch assignment if they didn't finish yesterday.

Students read two chapters in Cryptid Hunters and then had time to work on their first assignment.

Today in class...

Unfortunately, many students did not finish their homework last night.  So, we did not check vocab pages 87-89.  They must be completed by tomorrow. 

Students then had the rest of class to work on their first Sasquatch assignment.  The assignment will be due at the end of class tomorrow.

Tonight for homework...

Vocab Unit 7 test is Thursday.

First Sasquatch assignment will be due at the end of class tomorrow.

Today in class...

Students had the entire class time to work on their first Cryptid Hunters assignment.

First I checked the unit 7 graphic organizer.  Then we read aloud two more chapters of Sasquatch.  Finally, students worked on pages 87-89 in the Vocab book.

Finish pages 87-89.  Vocab test on Thursday.

Today in class...

First I gave the students their assignment choices for Sasquatch.  They will choose three from the list of options.  The first will be due at the end of class on Wednesday, May 7.  We will work on it Tuesday and Wednesday in class.

Next students continued the graphic organizer of their vocabulary words. 

Those who finished their organizer began chapter 10 of Sasquatch. 

This weekend for homework...

Finish the vocabulary organizer if you did not finish it in class.

Today in class...

We checked the Lesson 7 vocabulary exercises.

Then we revisited the Cryptid Hunter assignment choices; the first assignment choice will be due May 9 at the end of class.

Then we continued reading our novel.

Today in class...

I introduced Unit 7 Vocabulary terms.  We will be taking on all 20 words at one time.  After viewing the PowerPoint and discussing the terms students began their graphic organizer.

Today in class...

I introduced Unit 7 Vocabulary terms.  We will be taking on all 20 words at one time.   Then students began the Unit 7 exercises.  For the rest of the school year, vocabulary will be completed through an independent learning contract which we discussed today in class.  To reward students for setting high goals for themselves, extra credit will be rewarded as part of this independent learning contract.

Tonight for homework...

Finish Unit 7 Vocabulary exercises - pages 87-89.

Today in class...

We read chapter 8 aloud, and then the students read chapter 9 silently. 
After chapter 9, they read an article about D.B. Cooper and decided how they would include Cooper in the story, Sasquatch.

Tonight for homework...

Finish the D.B. Cooper assignment and get your progress report signed.

Today in class...

We read chapters 12-14.  Then students updated their figurative language sheet, plot diagram and setting organizer.
