Today the students practiced the 7-9 reading strategies, meaning in context, drawing conclusions, making inferences, and fact/opinion. Next, they reviewed the strategies before taking a quiz on the strategies. They also read the novel, Cryptid Hunters.

Homework: Vocab lesson 10 test: Wed. 3/25. Finish Cryptid Hunters by Thurs. and return books.

We graded the 7-9 reading strategy quiz. They took the lesson 10 vocab test. The students were asked to pretend to be the author of Cryptid Hunters, Roland Smith and write a sequel to the novel. They had to brainstorm the entire novel using a map or outline and then write the prologue only.

Homework: Finish the novel and the brainstorm of the sequel and write a prologue by Mon. 3/30.

The students completed a math unravel on the volume of a cone to prepare for the CRCT. We reviewed reading strategies 10-12 and then took a quiz on the strategies. They had time to work on the Cryptid Hunter assignment.

We graded pages 120-121 in the vocab book. The students finished the practice on reading strategies 7-9 meaning in context, drawing conclusions, making inferences, and fact/opinion. After a quick review of the strategies, the students took a quiz on the strategies 7-9.

We practiced math with a math unravel on the volume of a cone. We reviewed and then took the 10-12 reading strategies quiz. Students were given information about the expectations for Olympic week.

I collected the book reports. We reviewed the first three reading strategies and then the students took a quiz on the three strategies. We also went to the media center to return books and check out a new book.

Homework: Several students did not turn in their book report today, so they can turn it in for the next 3 days for a late grade. If they use a homework pass tomorrow, it will not be counted late.

The students took the lesson 7, 8, & 9 vocab test. I checked out Cryptid Hunter books to the students today. They took the first of the Cryptid Hunter comprehension quizzes today and then read the remainder of the period.

The students took a pop quiz on the research process. We reviewed the lesson 9 terms and graded the graphic organizer. We read page 104 together and the students completed the 6 questions on page 104. They had time in class to work on page 103. They also read their novels in class.

We graded pages 103 and 104 in the vocab book. I collected the purple folders to grade. The students wrote a research reflection paragraph. They worked on pages 101 and 102 in the vocab book.

We graded pages 101 and 102 in the vocab book. The students  were split in two teams and we played a review game for the vocab quiz on Friday. The students were reminded to bring their novels to class to read tomorrow. They will have the book report guidelines and can take start the rough draft book report and notes from the book.

We discussed how to register for the free version of VoiceThread at http://ed.voicethread.com The students should use their home e-mail addresses (only use a personal e-mail with parent permission). Once I have entered all of the e-mail addresses, the students will receive an invite to make a voice comment on my VoiceThread.The students have already recieved the 2 Sasquatch assignments for which they will make a comment. The online voice comments have to be completed by Mon. 3/2. We also continued the SMART Ideas country presentations in class today.

Homework: Register for VoiceThread. When you receive an invite via e-mail from me, you may make a voice comment on the 2 Sasquatch assignments by Mon. 3/2.
