Monday, May 12

The students took the mock writing test in homeroom. Because of the test, we had a modified schedule. I only saw block 3 today. The students read from the novel, Cryptid Hunters.

Homework: Less. 7 vocab test: Tues. 5/13. Portfolio assignments #1 and #2 due: Mon 5/19.

Tues. May 13

The students took the lesson 7 vocab test. I graded the purple folders today. We read from the novel, Cryptid Hunters.

Monday, May 12

The students took the mock writing test in homeroom today until 11:20. Because of that we had a modified schedule. We saw blocks 1, 2 only. I collected the second portfolio assignment today. The students had the remainder of the class to work on the third portfolio assignment. I conferenced with each student about the first portfolio assignment grade.

Tues. May 13

The students took the lesson 7 vocab test. I graded the purple foders today and returned them to the students. We finished reading Sasquatch. We watched a video about a Sasquatch sighting in Manatoba. The students were reminded to bring their #3 portfolio assignment to class on Wed. since we are going to have the laptops in class.

I graded the D. B. Cooper response and the students shared their responses. The students read chapter 10 in the novel and the remainder of the class they worked on their portfolio assignments.

Tues. May 6

I handed back all graded papers today. The students took the 7B Vocab quiz. They worked on the less. 7 review, pages 87-90 in the vocab book for the remainder of the class. I will be grading the purple folders next week. Wed. April 30 I handed out progress reports today and they are due back signed by parents on Fri. 5/2. The students read through chapter 11 in the novel, Cryptid Hunters

Thurs. May 1 I collected any progress reports a day early. I handed out the portfolio assignments and a rubric for the assignments for the novel study. The students took the CRCT test today in homeroom so classes were shortened. Today I saw only blocks 1 and 7. The students finished chapter 6 in Sasquatch and began reading chapter 7 silently. I handed out "The Elusive Sasquatch" and the students began working on the handout in class. The handout is not due until Wed. 4/30.

Tuesday, April 29

The students took the CRCT test today in homeroom so classes were shortened. Today I saw only block 2 today. The students finished chapter 6 in Sasquatch and began reading chapter 7 silently. I handed out "The Elusive Sasquatch" and the students began working on the handout in class. The handout is not due until Wed. 4/30.

Wed. April 30

I handed out progress reports today and they need to be signed and returned by Fri. 5/2. We graded the handout "Elusive Sasquatch". I collected all CRCT novel reflection logs today. The students returned all media center books today. We read in the novel up to chapter 10.

Thurs. May 1

Today, I collect the progress reports if the students had them a day early. I handed out the novel study portfolio assignments. The students wrote the seminar standards in the upper corner for the rubric guidelines. We completed the 7B vocab visual organizer.

Friday, May 2

I was absent today but the students finished reading chapter 9 in the novel. They read an article about D.B. Cooper and wrote how the author, Roland Smith, might use the information about D. B. Cooper in his novel, Sasquatch. The students had the remainder of the class to work on the first portfolio assignment.

The students made a reflection packet (2 sheets of paper stapled together) for their CRCT reading during homeroom. I am asking them to read after testing each day and write a reflection about what they read. They will turn this into me on the last day of testing and they will receive a grade for each day's reflection. Next, the students took the lesson 7A vocab quiz. They also took a quiz on the book, Sasquatch, up to Chapter 3. We read into chapter 3 of the novel.

We reviewed for the CRCT which is this week and next. We read the novel, Cryptid Hunters up to chapter 2. I handed out a stapled packet with a plot diagram, figurative language and themes of the novel. The students will complete these as we read.

I collected the timeline book report today. I discussed preparation for the CRCT on Wed. of next week. We discussed the value of a good night's sleep, eating a good breakfast, and test taking strategies. Together we read a reading passage and started to review the twelve reading strategies. The students highlighted the passage as they identified the answer to the strategies and used test taking strategies. Homework: pleasure read

We finished highlighting and completing CARS lesson 1 and the students started on their own completing lesson 3.

Homework: Finish CARS lesson 3. Bring novel to return to media center on Wed.

Wed. April 16

We graded lesson 3 CARS. We went to the media center to check out a book for the CRCT reading next week. The students will read and keep a reflection log of what they read during the 5 testing days. I graded agendas in the media center.
